3 shows that should've ended earlier

Image
This may be the first edition of this article.  With Dexter coming up on my list soon, I know this list will grow. There's also such an issue with shows going on for too long just because the fansbase keeps it alive. Grey's Anatomy or even Supernatural really didn't have to last over 10 years - Honestly no show should last more than 10 years. As much as we may love the characters, the writing struggles to mean anything. Usually, characters have a full developing arc within several seasons or less. In order to keep a plot going, the integrity of the characters or established lore is often tarnished to help invent a useless narrative that just ruins everything. End on a high, don't drain the characters until there's nothing left. With that being said, here are a few shows that I've watched that could've ended way sooner. The Walking Dead I never even finished my original marathon. I think I made it to season 5 or 6 and started to dislike the direction. At the ...

AUGUST WATCH PARTY - Shawshank Redemption (1994), Sophie's Choice (1982), Joy Luck Club (1993)

"A banker convicted of uxoricide forms a friendship over a quarter century with a hardened convict, while maintaining his innocence and trying to remain hopeful through simple compassion." -  IMDB   Currently listed as the #1 top rated film of IMDB, this is probably a film we all have heard of if not seen. I've definitely seen bits and pieces over the years and basically knew the whole plot going in but it was very refreshing seeing the whole thing in one viewing.  Good to see a young and spry Clancy Brown. Also always good to see Morgan Freeman. Maybe it's an American thing, but I Morgan Freeman is such a comfort. The voice of God in America for 40 years. Stephen King's story was brought to life so perfectly. It's hard to pick out anything wrong with it. Well written and executed with great acting. Do I think it's the greatest movie of all time? Greatest movie ever made? Will I watch it a million times more? Probably not. But I enjoyed my time with it ...

Top 5 villains I love to root for

Image
We love them or we love to hate them, but we'd rather see the villain win in some stories. Here are my top 5 villains I love to root for! Loki Tom Hiddleston did it right. He's our favorite little god of mischief. Even in other forms like Atreus from God of War or even the original Loki of Norse Mythology, Loki seems to have a fanbase where ever he goes & I'm right there. Norman Bates Not just a psycho, but THE Psycho. I loved seeing Anthony Perkins portrayal and as a life long Freddie Highmore fan, you just know I was obsessed with the show . Norman is just an interesting character and it's fun to see his dual personality thrive. Walter White This is what good writing and acting can do. Bryan Cranston is one of the greatest actors of his generation. He perfectly portrayed Walter's rise of Heisenberg . It was easy to feel connected to Walter who was desperate enough to fall into the drug industry. He spent the earlier seasons struggling with regret until one da...

Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002)

"A captured mustang remains determined to return to his herd no matter what." - IMDB   My top 3 movies of all time – sorcerer's stone, spirited away...... and stallion of the cimarron herd. A live action fantasy, an anime, and a cartoon, I think I cover all bases lol.  Spirit and Shrek were the only DreamWorks films I really watched as a Disney snob child. I remember on a few different occasions choosing to rent it at Blockbuster. The film has since been such a symbol in my life and I have also found new ways to appreciate it over the years as its own art form. Looking back.... I’m so grateful that I've always had this movie in my back pocket through every stage of life I've been through so far.  The music. It’s powerful. I've seen this movie a hundred times and have yet to be desensitized to the emotions the music produces.   Music is the center of everything I love about this movie. Of course you got Hans Zimmer who just doesn’t miss. Bryan Adams was behind ...

JULY WATCH PARTY - Natural Born Killers (1994), A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001), Midori-ko (2010)

"Two victims of traumatized childhoods become lovers and psychopathic serial murderers irresponsibly glorified by the mass media." -  IMDB   What the heck. Yeah this was an experience. No surprise Quentin Tarantino was in the writers room. The movie was giving Tarantino vibes even if he only wrote the story. The cinematography and editng were crazy. Paired with the lighting and action, this movie was a visual feast. I watched this movie for Woody Harrelson, and stayed for Australian Robert Doweny Jr. This movie was early in both of their careers and they were massive stand outs. I loved this movie more than I thought I would and I low key ship Mickey & Mallory. My Rating: ★★★★★★★★☆☆     "A highly advanced robotic boy longs to become "real" so that he can regain the love of his human mother." -  IMDB AI is definitely one of thos movies you have ot see at least once in your life if you're at all into Science Fiction, or even the artificial ...
