John Wick "Quadrilogy"

Image
"An ex-hit-man comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that killed his dog and took his car." -  IMDB The Boogeyman First of all, the cast. Of course Keanu Reeves is the heart & soul of the film but we also got Ian McShane, Willem Dafoe, Alfie Allen, Adrianne Palicki, & Lance Reddick. All very talented. But I gotta hand it to Keanu. There was actually a scene where he made me emotional. His line delivery caught me off guard. I can't say I've shed a tear for Keanu's performances before now. He did such a good job. The concept is really cool. Any sort of Assassin or Secret Agent premise is solid.  John Wick  is thankfully one of the many takes on the idea that didn't fall through and had solid execution as well. It really throws you off though given how John Wick throws himself back in the Assassin's Creed. Not only do you not expect it but it's unnecessarily tragic... Let's just say that next time I get on the Sims 4, I'm g...

Disney Films - July Movie Club

Image
Check out the first part of my Disney Movie Club! "A young and parentless girl adopts a 'dog' from the local pound, completely unaware that it's supposedly a dangerous scientific experiment that's taken refuge on Earth and is now hiding from its creator and those who see it as a menace." -  IMDB Woah... I'll never get over this movie. Lilo - The weird little outcast. I feel like a the weirdo kids that didn't fit in looked up to her as a character. It was brilliantly supported with her friendship with Stitch, who also doesn't belong. Stitch - the most iconic Disney character right after Mickey Mouse. Go to Disney Japan property or the Polynesian Resort at Walt Disney World, he's literally all over the place. And where you find Stitch merch, you'll find Angel merch - you know, the sexy pink experiment from the show? He's wild, destructive, and, of course, cute & fluffy. He's the spirit animal of most of us. And it's heartwarm...

Silence of the Lambs (1991)

"A young F.B.I. cadet must receive the help of an incarcerated and manipulative cannibal killer to help catch another serial killer, a madman who skins his victims." - IMDB So here I am, in a post Hannibal series world. Mads was great, but nothing beats Anthony Hopkins.  I was today years old when I learned Colleen Atwood did costuming. Guys, do you understand how this got me shook? Fantastic Beasts, Chicago, literally every Tim Burton movie. hello????? Atwood designed the famous mask??????? Coleen Atwood is literally my favorite costume designer, the only one I know by name. Unsung hero in the film industry.   I loved seeing the Chilton character after everything that happened on the show, they definitely cast well in the show. It was exciting to see the character, but at some point, during his and Clarice’s descent to the deepest chambers, I started holding my breath. I was just so tense until Clarice walked out of that hospital. I’ve seen this movie a few times now, a...

Hardcore Henry (2015)

Image
"Henry is resurrected from death with no memory, and he must save his wife from a telekinetic warlord with a plan to bio-engineer soldiers." - IMDB PSA Hardcore Henry is a film that exists. First of all, if you’re someone who has weird motion sickness or can’t stand shaky cam in any form, ignore this recommendation. If you’re good with all that...... THEN STOP READING AND GO WATCH THIS MOVIE!!! It’s honestly one of the coolest films I’ve seen in a long time. My only wish is that I watched it sooner.  Hardcore Henry is a film entirely in the first-person point of view. Of course this is easily compared to an x number of video games. In terms of film of any kind..... I can only think of Markiplier and all of his creative projects on his channel, which are all 1st person as well. I love Mark’s projects, but Hardcore Henry takes it up a notch or 20 with it’s action. Hardcore Parkour is half the movie and its super cool. Henry has no dialogue so it was so easy to cast some sort o...

The Last of Us: Part One vs Part Two

Image
This is a blog many months in the making. Everyone can agree the Last of Us was a phenomenal experience while the fanbase remains divided about the Last of Us Part II even after 3 years. I've written theses on both, and now it's time for the ultimate 1v1: Part 1 vs Part 2.  Please please please check out my blogs on both games. I worked relentlessly hard on them. the Last of Us the Last of Us Part II Gameplay  Part I took what Uncharted combat did and made it better. I'm a Nathan Drake stan for sure, but I wasn't exactly a fan of only having two weapons and a few grenades. I blame Part I for this disdain as the inventory system is upgraded tenfold. You can carry so many weapons and have many tools at your arsenal - not just for combat but exploration as well.  And if that's not enough - Part II took what part I did and made that better. A whole level up for the inventory and upgrade systems, prone changing the stealth game entirely, and even improved party members....

Disney Films - May Movie Club

Image
With Disney starting their big "100 Years of Disney" campaign, I though I's start a mini series talking about my most favorite Disney films. "Aspiring musician Miguel, confronted with his family's ancestral ban on music, enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer." -  IMDB Watching this movie hits the same as did that day I saw it theaters. Right from the first 2 minutes, the movie has me in the palm of its hands. The music is enchanting from start to finish. That flute followed up by the guitar.... bruh. This soundtrack is magical and emotional and is such an amazing asset to overall story. Music is always important to any film, but it has such a different essence in Coco. Coco is an emotional love letter to Mexican culture and is masterfully depicted in stunning animation and art design., The colors are as vibrant as the characters. The celebration of family and ancestry is core to Miguel's journey as he experie...
