Timothée Chalamet - Double Feature

Image
I've been following Timothée's career for a few years as he made it as the next Rising Star. But I think since Dune , it's safe to say he's an official super star now, with an Oscar nomination already in his pocket. So I've decided to go back and watch the 2 films that made me avert my gaze to him in the first place and really see how this young actor became such a big deal.  "Based on the best-selling pair of memoirs from father and son David and Nic Sheff, Beautiful Boy chronicles the heartbreaking and inspiring experience of survival, relapse and recovery in a family coping with addiction over many years." - IMDB This was a gut wrenching story. Mostly because it was sad to watch Nic go through the ups & downs of addiction recovery. Through flash backs, we see what a sweet boy he was and how close of a relationship he has with his father. It makes David's desperation to help his son hit that much harder, especially when Nic, himself, has moments

The Last of Us (2013)

"In a hostile, post-pandemic world, Joel and Ellie, brought together by desperate circumstances, must rely on each other to survive a brutal journey across what remains of the United States." - IMDB I discovered this game a year after it released. I was looking into "best games" and this came up so without question or research I gave it a shot. And with that in mind, I will now give a thesis as to why this remains my favorite game of all time after 8 years. I should've read the signs, but I was to interested in the moment so I remained ignorant as to what exactly was about to happen... We're immediately introduced to Sarah & her father Joel. They have a very lovely father-daughter bond that is so clear in that opening scene. Sarah wakes up to a distress call in what sems to be a quiet night. As she wonders to Joel's room, the news and the explosi

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

"British retirees travel to India to take up residence in what they believe is a newly restored hotel. Less luxurious than advertised, the Marigold Hotel nevertheless slowly begins to charm in unexpected ways." - IMDB When I saw that the cast included British royals like Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, & Bill Nighy as well as my boy Dev Patel, of course I was going to add these movies to my list. These very seasoned actors in one place in a British comedy film about a bunch of old British geysers going to India was a premise good enough for me to be curious. This movie has many merits. Though it's not an award winning, showstopping, spectacular, it's still a very chill comedy good enough for a casual viewing. As funny as it was seeing the main characters out of their element as they accustom to this exotic land and culture, the actual Indian culture is quite interesting. I, myself, may be too claustrophobic and socially anxious to properly have a good time here, but I a
