If a show was on one of the major networks, historically speaking, they were meant to entertain an audience over the course of a year. This meant a season started in the Fall, ended in the Spring, and the final episode count would be at least 20 or more. Shows made for streaming have the luxury of not being tied to that standard. They can tell their story and move on. While this means a lack of filler, it also means an easier binge with the story not being dragged out to an unnecessary point. These 3 shows definitely would have benefited from this format. Once upon a time This is probably the show that needed to be a non network show the most. Not just episode count but for budget and time. The most powerful characters were constantly nerfed for the sake of plot. Oh no! The Evil Queen was thrown across the room. A lot of people that I recognized - from Drew Barrymore to Ashley Tisdale, to that guy who played the son of that crazy dude from Independence day. Jake Gyllenhaal knocked it out of the the park. One thing that is for certain for the whole season is that Rose’s absence is felt literally all the time. MAJOR SPOILERS because my whole film experience can be described by my reaction to the ending. The whole damn movie, I was thinking the fantasy was real. Then, literally the last 60 seconds, dead serious, I started to think - wait.... this was all inside her head. Then she died, & I cried through the credits........... Now... The brilliance of this ending (and Del Toro's writing) is that it is open to interpretation. The one thing that pulls me into obsessive mode for any show or movie is complex characters. What really drives me crazy.... complex ships. And these three couples today are very toxic, but not all is what it seems on the surface. Tom & Shiv  I wrote an essay that ended up being 8000+ words long . Succession is full of complex characters & these two are my favorite. When defending the idea that they never divorce, my main point is that they are not a normal couple. They didn't start dating out of love. The foundation of their relationship is money and power. My main point is also that Shiv was on the Zuko trajectory, except we never saw that season 3 redemption era. " -  IMDB    This was a Leonardo DiCaprio classic that I've been very excited to experience given it's reputation. Now, the film is quite famous for its major plot twist.... But in Yoda's voice - there is another, and it's not so obvious as it took another person's review for me see it. Scorsese & DiCaprio go well together and this surely applies to this psychological thriller drama. I'd love to talk more, but I really don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen it. Severus Snape is undoubtedly the most controversial character in the Harry Potter franchise. He may have been a hero. Maybe we mix our love of Alan Rickman with our love for the character. But he was still a bully. And he was still a Death Eater. So let's try and deep dive as to what, why, and who Snape is. Childhood Severus Snape grew up to parents who were on some level abusive or neglectful or just unlikeable. That, alone, can F up a kid from the get go. He also was poor and had no friends - attributing to more isolation. Snape's bitterness towards life was developed so early, it's no surprise that a general disdain towards everything and everyone would be ingrained in his personality.  When a person is unhappy in life, it's common for them to project this externally whether it be through their mannerisms, attitude, and/or social interactions.
