Stranger Things 5 - Spoiler Free Review
"The group seeks to find and kill Vecna following the opening of rifts throughout Hawkins. As the anniversary of Will Byers' disappearance approaches, the group must unite for a final battle against a new deadly threat."
- IMDB
My only complaint for Season 4 was there was too much going on & there wasn't time for certain characters interactions. I got what I wanted Season 5 but the cost was cringey dialogue & lots of cheese.
I don't wanna say the writing was bad because the plot was solid, but dialogue was odd. Cheesey & sappy & awkward. But it's the final season so I guess I can let it slide.
The stakes were higher Season 5 vs Season 4, but at this point - our squad knows what they're doing. They're Level 20 in their classes. Well oiled machines. They also made use of a lot of plot holes & other developed lore the writers forgot about... So the sense of urgency was not like Season 4.
The shock of Vecna was all used in Season 4 as well. He was still great & Jamie was scary, but that shock factor is just not there. We didn't know what was going on, now we do. I rewatched Seasons 1 & 2 during my marathon leading up to 5 & felt more anxious watching old content vs my first viewing of Season 5.
I believe!
I like the ending. Maybe one or two things I was like *shrug* but nice conclusive ending for most characters. I was more satisfied with the ending of Stranger Things than I was with Game of Thrones - I'm not alone in this of course.
Most Joyce & Will scenes were together. And Joyce delivered. Axe Winona came through. Bowie was the finale credits. I was the target audience for season 5. While there are flaws - many flaws - it still hit all my weak points so I can't say it was bad. And there were A LOT of strong points. I just feel like the series build up was to lead to Season 4, & Season 5 was the wrap up.
I felt the same for the Avengers. All phases led up to Infinity War, they lost, roll credits, now let's finish the job in ENDGAME.
My Rating: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆
