Corpse Bride (2005)

Image
"When a shy groom practices his wedding vows in the inadvertent presence of a deceased young woman, she rises from the grave assuming he has married her." - IMDB Being Tim Burton's 2nd animated film, it's definitely flooded with Burton's unique art style paired with the stop motion animation that isn't seen all the time. Something that sets it apart from Burton's iconic Nightmare Before Christmas is the coloring. Corpse Bride utilizes a bit more fluorescent colors compared to the darker color scale from his previous animated movie. A negative about this movie is it's attempt to be a musical. The songs were not too memorable and it's hard to beat the quality from Nightmare Before Christmas . But the highlight of the film for me hands down is the musical score. That, I would say, is the one thing better than it's predecessor. Victor's piano song, which plays as the main theme throughout the movie, is one of my favorite pieces of music of all

LOST - 20 Years of Dharma & their BS - Full Review

Image
"The survivors of a plane crash are forced to work together in order to survive on a seemingly deserted tropical island." -  IMDB Season 1 I was very young when Lost was making its way as cultural phenomenon. The only thing I really remember from it was the airplane crash premise & the pop culture icon, Jorge Garcia. I have since watched  Once Upon a Time  &  Bates Motel  - two shows that I very much obsessed over within the last couple years. I know very well that those same writers, producers, & the creators were top people in making Lost & I recognized their names every time when Lost rolled their opening credits. Given their reputation, I had to move Lost up my watch list. I would've watched it eventually, but I had to jump in sooner given how much I enjoyed their other shows. I knew this was a show about a bunch of people stranded on an Island, but no one said anything about this supernatural creature hiding in the jungle whispering words in people

The Harry Potter Experience

With all movies covered on my blog, I thought I'd give a deep dive into the Wizarding World and share my passion on the franchise that means the most to me. The Books “Mr. and Mrs. Dursley of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.” I have read the books 3 times in full and have spent months considering a 4th read through now that Hogwarts Legacy has helped me memorize the Hogwarts map lol. While the movies do a decent job telling the bigger picture, the books hold all the little moments that immersed us more than the movies ever could. I really don't know how to articulate how magical reading the series is, especially if it's your first time. Nights in the common room, visits to Hagrid's, summers at the Burrow, the Quidditch World Cup, the entire Crouch family history, Voldemort's full history, Peeves, and so much more is in store if read the books. The Movies   What else can I say that I haven't said a

Hogwarts Legacy (2023)

Image
"Set during the late 1800s, a newly enrolled student at Hogwarts discovers that they possess the unusual ability to perceive and master Ancient Magic, becoming the key to an old secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart." - IMDB   It has occurred to me that I never made an official blog about Hogwarts Legacy. So here I am on Harry Potter's birthday sharing my thoughts about my game of the year last year. If you know me, then you know I’m purely defined as a Harry Potter fan. So Hogwarts Legacy has been my crippling sub-obsession for over a year now. I absolutely love that game and I'm here to break it down for you now! The Bad  There are a lot of people with valid criticisms of this game. Yeah, it’s not perfect. It has it’s flaws from really minor ones to major ones. But my list is not that big compared to others.  However, I agree with pretty much everybody by saying broom mechanics..... not it. I forgot what I had to do to make it bearable, I definitel

Deadpool & Wolverine - First Impressions!

Image
"Wolverine is recovering from his injuries when he crosses paths with the loudmouth Deadpool. They team up to defeat a common enemy." - IMDB   First Impressions. I literally haven't had time to think any of my thoughts through. I've been so unbelievably hyped for this film and I'm so overwhelmed that it is here and that I've seen it. To Deadpool Fans - this was indeed a Deadpool movie. The violence, epic fight scenes, the comedy, the vibes, Ryan Reynolds - everything that made the first two Deadpool movies great was all here.  To X-Men Fans - Hugh Jackman truly is THE X Man and proved it in this film. 24 years and he's still got it. Honestly, any time I was emotional it was because of him. What a real treat it was to see him on such a legendary scale.  To MCU Fans - This fits within the grand scheme of things but it really stands on it's own. The MCU is everywhere in terms of references and having background knowledge, at least from Loki, is helpful bu

JULY WATCH PARTY - Get Out (2017), One Hour Photo (2002), Zodiac (2007)

**SPOILER ALERT** "A young African-American visits his white girlfriend's parents for the weekend, where his simmering uneasiness about their reception of him eventually reaches a boiling point." -  IMDB   Dang. That was a solid film. I have seen Jordan Peele's Us and Nope, but I only just now got to the film that made all of us know who Jordan Peele was. Get Out is a psychological thriller that follows a black man that gets caught in the shenanigans of a crazy white people cult. I really applaud Jordan's story and his concept of hypnotism. They're not making slaves - they're making vessels. While to me, Us is the superior film compared to Get Out and Nope, this film was still a phenomenal way to make a directorial debut and an Oscar for best screenplay was very well deserved.  My Rating: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆ "A mentally unstable photo developer targets an upper middle-class family after his obsession with them becomes more sick and disturbing than any of them

JUNE WATCH PARTY - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975), Best F(r)iends (2017), Hotel Mumbai (2018)

SPOILER ALERT In the Fall of 1963, a Korean War veteran and criminal pleads insanity and is admitted to a mental institution, where he rallies up the scared patients against the tyrannical nurse." -  IMDB   Some movies just make me remember why I love film as much as I do. Obviously had to watch this film for Jack Nicholson. You get the Class A acting you'd expect from him for his performance as McMurphy. We also have a great supporting cast that includes the likes of Christopher Lloyd and a very young Danny DeVito. However, a huge standout is Louise Fletcher as Nurse Ratched.  Now, I didn't know Ratched was from this story. My only prior knowledge to the character was that she was kind of scary. There is definitely some untapped story potential with the character - I'm talking like AHS Asylum level potential. But even so, Fletcher's performance was eerie. As the character always had dominion over everyone in the room, I always felt that Fletcher had a dominating p

Pride & Prejudice (2005)

"Sparks fly when spirited Elizabeth Bennet meets single, rich, and proud Mr. Darcy. But Mr. Darcy reluctantly finds himself falling in love with a woman beneath his class. Can each overcome their own pride and prejudice?" - IMDB   Pride & Prejudice is a film I have seen before. I actually watched it a few times for a film class, so this material is beyond new to me. I, uh... know quite a bit... But re-watching recently hit differently. Something about it.... I’m obsessed and fully in love with Mr. Darcy in a way I’ve never been before. He has bewitched me.... what else can I say.  Our story starts with the iconic Elizabeth Bennet played by the iconic Keira Knightley. I may go on and on about Darcy, but please be aware of my extended appreciation for Elizabeth. She’s stubborn and proud, head strong, independent – she doesn’t really fit any mold within society or even her own family for that matter. She is such an individual with many different sides and emotions. She is a
