"The history of Gon Freecs, a boy who left home alone to become a Hunter. In the hard test, Gon meets Leorio, Kurapika and Killua." - IMDB Hunter x Hunter has been on my list for a while as an anime considered one of the greatest of all time. Watching these “greatest of all time” animes have been 50-50. Berserk & Evangelion I just didn’t vibe with completely while Fullmetal Alchemist & Code Geass were just perfection. Hunter x Hunter turned out to be a positive experience for me, though later I’ll tell you why I should’ve watched the remake instead of the original. But yeah, Hunter x Hunter was solid & I really enjoyed.   All the characters were interesting. That’s it. That’s all any story needs to anchor my attention. There’s really not too much to say about Gon and that’s only because if you watch the show, literally every other character has at least 2 inner monologues per episode about how special he is. They’re right of course. Gon is just insanely likeable a...

I cannot believe we lost Alan Rickman 7 years ago. My last Potter marathon, I shed some extra tears for Robbie Coltrane, Though watching Snape, I've been shedding tears for Alan for years. Like many, Alan Rickman was introduced to theater through school, though he actually went to college to pursue his artistic talents and ended up becoming a graphic designer for a time. Though I guess the call to the theater was too much, so the 70s saw an Alan Rickman fully committing to the life of an actor and studying his trade at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Most of his 30s would be dedicated to theater as he didn’t make an iconic on-screen breakout until he was about 42, but I'll talk about that in a second.  Leading up to said breakout role, he was in several plays. I can’t find a full list, but some of these plays include the Temptest Romeo and Juliet, Love’s Labor's Lost, the Seagull, & the Grass Widow. His most ground breaking on stage role at this time, however, was a ...

It has come to my attention that last year marked the 15th Anniversary for High School Musical 2. And I just feel really old now. I remember getting hyped with my friends that summer. HSM was a big deal that year. We all had merch. We all knew the songs. And we all wanted to be one of the characters. Years later, I not only appreciate these movies for nostalgic purposes, but also as genuinely good movies with meaningful themes, great music and choreography, iconic characters, and fabulous 2000s fashion.  I don't really feel like watching the 3rd movie, so here's a Double Feature review for the first two High School Musical films to start the New Year off right. "A popular high-school athlete and an academically-gifted girl get roles in the school musical and develop a friendship that threatens East High's social order." -  IMDB This film is all about the "Status Quo" and breaking out of it. This is a movie for kids, so this is a great theme for next gen...

Last year I went through some Cartoon Christmas specials for nostalgic enjoyment. However, My mom is a Disney mom, and raised me to be a Disney stan. So I just had to go back to Disney Channel Classics for their Holiday specials this season! Recess Christmas: Miracle on Third Street Shout out to the "undeserving European savages" line from the Thanksgiving flashback. Anyways, this "movie" special isn't like the epic Power Puff Girls one. It's just a collection of 3 episodes, including the Christmas special from season 2, "Yes, Mikey, Santa does shave." Now that Christmas special is what you'd really want from a Recess Holiday episode. Mikey is on a quest to prove that Santa exists. And in Recess fashion , Christmas magic is here! Lizzie McGuire: Xtreme Xmas One of the most nostalgic shows on this list, Lizzie McGuire spends this episode re-learning what Christmas really means. She learns that the holiday season is all about "good will tow...

"The legendary Clades are a family of explorers whose differences threaten to topple their latest and most crucial mission." - IMDB There are a lot of negative reviews and I just gotta say none of y’all better say this movie is the worst when Cars & Planes exists. The 1st was okay, but after that, it became a franchise geared toward 4-year-old boys with car obsessions. Be critical, but not overdramatic. Geez Louise.  That being said. I dd enjoy this movie, though it does rank a little low for me compared to, like, 60+ other Disney films. At its surface, it's one of those “I don’t wanna be my parent but ended up like them anyway” story with Jaeger and Searcher, which we’ve seen before. But the real moral of the story, and the real heart and soul of this film, is actually a message about protecting the environment, with Grandson, Ethan, at the helm.  When I saw the first trailer, I thought it was Rick & Morty meets Treasure Planet. Then I started watching and I was...

"A group of young misfits called The Goonies discover an ancient map and set out on an adventure to find a legendary pirate's long-lost treasure." - IMDB In a long list of classic kids' adventures, the Goonies has gotta be at the top of the list. The Goonies is the crème of the crop when it comes to 80's cult classics and the legacy is almost unmatched. The story is a simple pirate treasure hunt tale taking place in 1980's Oregon. But as the Goonies navigate their way to One-Eye Willy's treasure, their journey is full of heart and friendship. Not to mention a long list of iconic quotes and scenes. The Wishing Well scene alone can be quoted by every cultured swine between the "goonies never say die" line and the "it's our time down here" speech. With action, comedy, and emotion, this film is the perfect balance as all things should be after 35+ years providing nostalgia for multiple generations . Yeah.... So Samwise Gamgee plays Tha...
